Interval Data Collection for Behavior Tracking

Interval recording is an interval recording strategy that involves observing whether a behavior occurs or does not occur during specified time periods. Once the length of an observation session is identified, the time is broken down into smaller intervals that are all equal in length. Examples of behaviors that can be measured using partial interval recording include praising others, participating in class discussions, hitting, and cursing. This differs from Rate behavior tracking (frequency over time). See attachments.

A chime or tone, would also be hugely beneficial, as in many cases you are interacting with the child or running after them, and need that chime or reminder that the interval has come and the data needs to be collected. Cynthia Ayers

Momentary time sampling data collection and interval recording doesn’t need to take up any room on the data collection screen. Maybe a popup window comes up as each interval goes by and the user indicates whether or not the behavior occurred. Maybe a checkbox for each interval and the box grays out until the next interval occurs. Cynthia Ayers
